Corey Olsen got his BA from Williams College in 1996. A Phi Beta Kappa member, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with Highest Honors in English, and he also double-majored in Astrophysics. Professor Olsen received his PhD in English from Columbia University in 2004. He specializes in medieval literature, and his research interests include the poetry of Geoffrey Chaucer, the Morte Darthur of Sir Thomas Malory, and, of course, Tolkien.
Corey Olsen is currently a tenure-track professor in the English Department of Washington College, a delightful little liberal arts school in Chestertown, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. His courses at WAC (as it is affectionately known) include An Introduction to Medieval Literature, Arthurian Literature, Chaucer, and a full-semester course on the works of Tolkien.
At the graduation ceremony in 2007, Professor Olsen received the Alumni Association’s Award for Distinguished Teaching, the most prestigious teaching award given to a faculty member at Washington College.
